false advertising, if you advertise yeah good hosting for joomla and ooops sorry you have to move towards a diffrent style of hosting

I fully understand your point of view but not that there are thousands of plugins designed for the Joomla site. These plugins are not part of the default Joomla application and we cannot guarantee their functionality.

Please note that it is almost impossible to create a hosting solution which can fulfill all requirements of these 3rd party plugins and the same time can provide lower hosting price.

Some of the Joomla components indeed requires much more resources in order to operate smoothly, as it is the case with your plugin. For example, if you download a Joomla extension which allows you to create video/audio streaming channels, you will be not able to use this plugin on any shared service. The plugin itself is designed to allocate more resources and thus, such plugins are recommended only for a Joomla which hosted on a dedicated server.

Siteground's support is incredibly efficient and effective.

My test website went down after I changed my cpanel password so I submitted a ticket on the Siteground website. Siteground support logged in and fixed the issue in less than 15 minutes, explained what caused the problem.

A lot of the people on here sound like siteground reps. They have the same names and speak the same poor English. Be very very wary of this company. I've actually been a customer of theirs, a reseller in fact, for several years now. But I discovered recently that these guys really don't give a crap about your business. All they really care about is pushing you into higher paying packages. That's it.

After years of building our business and seeing traffic grow, we began to exceed plan limits. We were told we needed to upgrade our account and were offered a new hosting package more suitable for the resources we were using. After some discussion with their sales and support team, we agreed to upgrade our account and pay additional fees. To our surprise however, we were told that the package they had just offered us (a VPS solution) was "no longer available" despite being listed on their website and that we had to purchase a much more expensive dedicated server solution.

To force the issue, they then pulled the plug 48 hours later before we could make alternative hosting arrangements for the site in question and migrate it. The site went offline and they flatly refused to grant us an additional 24 hours to allow a seamless transition elsewhere. We were forced to scramble, but the damage was already done. What took years for us to build up, siteground managed to destroy in one day. By pulling the plug on our service, search engines had already begun delisting the site, and in a flash, the traffic we had worked so hard to build had vanished. That they needlessly resorted to such hard-ball tactics suggests that they may be having serious financial problems.

If you're a reseller looking for a reliable partner, do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. Try to find a company that is willing to actually work with you as a *partner* to meet the needs of your business as it grows. Siteground is certainly not that company.

If you're a consumer looking for a place to host your site, you can find cheaper places for the same relatively crappy service you'll get from siteground. Siteground has no live support, their English is poor, and all correspondence with their team is generally boilerplate, generic stuff, often missing the point of your request entirely, which is enormously frustrating.

Siteground arbitrarily and unfairly shut my site down claiming that spam was being sent from the application. However, they did not research the situation at all before doing so. The emails being sent were from members of our site - a JomSocial-driven social network - NOT SPAM. They said they would turn it back on if I could "guarantee it would not happen again" - which I could not do because sending "FRIEND REQUESTS" is a function of the site! Also, they stipulated that I must upgrade to the lastest version of Joomla which would have broken several of our components. They were willing to help us with this for $49.50 an hour. So they shut our site down and then expected us to pay them to fix it. Unbelievable!!!!!!!! This is a TRUE STORY!

so far its been working great beyond the speed but if I wanted to pay 6-7 dollars a month more i could get speed

I am very pleased today about SG. When I made some changes in my site root folder and caused lost of files.I had to order for yesterday's backup of my folder and within few seconds of my request, the restoration was put in progress and within an hour, done!
My site was back on rock again. SG saved the day. Although its part of SG service but what if my request was delayed or postponed, what can I do at that moment.
This may sound simple, but that site was actually a live site for a company. It was a big effect which was quickly fixed.

Summary:

- fast enough, nice support and reliable.
- please notice that you have to use the tickets section to get support (fast and effective support)

A very speedy backup restore from my own error this morning, the siteground team took exactly 30 minutes from the moment I deleted my website files to back up and support me all the way.

Very speedy and informative ticket support system.
